Daniel Lee launched the Jodie in 2019 and it became, almost overnight, the most photographed bag of the year. The design is deceptively simple: an oversized knot at the handle, a soft slouch of intrecciato woven nappa, and no branding whatsoever. Its appeal was to collectors who had graduated beyond logos and wanted something that communicated taste to those in the know.
The Jodie comes in multiple sizes — Mini, Small, and Medium — with Mini becoming particularly popular as a going-out bag. It also comes in a wider range of colours than most bags its price range, making it collectible across multiple colourways.
Intrecciato Weave
The intrecciato (Italian for 'interlaced') is Bottega's signature: strips of nappa leather woven together in a crosshatch pattern. Each strip is cut to a consistent width, woven by hand, and pressed. It is extraordinarily labour-intensive — the cost of the weave alone justifies much of the price premium. The result is a fabric-like leather surface with extraordinary suppleness and strength.
