Dust Bag

A protective fabric pouch included with a new bag, used to store it and protect it from dust and light when not in use.

A dust bag is the protective fabric pouch that luxury bags come packaged in. It's designed to protect the bag from dust, light exposure, and scratches during storage. Most are made from flannel, cotton, or microfibre in brand-appropriate colours (Hermès uses orange, Chanel uses white or black, Louis Vuitton uses caramel tan).

For collectors, the original dust bag is a meaningful accessory: it adds to resale value (complete set means bag + dust bag + box + receipt), confirms the bag's provenance, and is the ideal storage solution for the bag itself.

Using Your Dust Bag

Always store bags in their dust bags, even if the bag is on display. UV from windows and ambient light fades leather slowly over time. The fabric lets the leather breathe — unlike a plastic bag — making it ideal for long-term storage. If you don't have the original, an equivalent natural-fibre pillowcase works well as a substitute.
