Lambskin is leather from young lambs, prized for its exceptional softness and buttery texture. It's lighter and more supple than calfskin, giving bags a luxurious hand feel that's difficult to replicate in other materials. Major users include Chanel (for the Classic Flap), Dior, and Saint Laurent.
The softness comes at a cost: lambskin is more delicate than any other common luxury leather. It scratches, dents, and stains easily, and scratches often can't be fully buffed out. In expert hands it develops a beautiful patina, but it demands more care than calfskin, saffiano, or coated canvas alternatives.
