Condition Grade

A standardised assessment of a pre-loved bag's physical state — from 'New' or 'Deadstock' at the top through 'Excellent', 'Very Good', 'Good', to 'Fair'.

Condition grading is a shorthand system for describing the physical state of a pre-loved bag. The grades are not perfectly standardised across resale platforms — 'Excellent' on The RealReal may correspond to 'Very Good' on Vestiaire — but they follow a consistent conceptual hierarchy from pristine to heavily worn.

Standard grades: New/Deadstock (unused, tags attached); Like New/Never Worn (used once or twice, no signs of wear); Excellent (light signs of use — minor corner wear, very faint hardware marks); Very Good (visible corner wear, hardware scratching, interior marks); Good (noticeable wear throughout); Fair (significant wear, needs professional attention).

Grading Your Own Bags

When adding bags to your Bagstash collection, use the condition field accurately. Look specifically at: the four corners (primary wear point), base leather (scratching from setting down), hardware (brassing, scratching), interior lining (pen marks, staining), and piping (peeling on edges). The condition you assign affects both community perception and your collection's estimated value.
